Achievement Prep, a Washington, DC, public charter school with an expanded middle school program, will open in Fall 2008 with 60 fourth grade and 60 fifth grade students, and will expand a grade per year until its full enrollment through grade eight.  Achievement Prep seeks dynamic and committed founding teachers to build a high-performing expanded middle school determined to close the achievement gap and level the educational and economic playing field.

Achievement Prep seeks founding teachers who are committed to the following core beliefs:

Achievement Prep will close the achievement gap and prepare all students for a future of college success through:

  • College-preparatory Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies classes from 8:00 AM – 3:45 PM.
  • Arts, Sports, Music and other Enrichment classes from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.
  • Regular assessment of progress toward academic standards and regular assessment of behavior standards in accordance with our DREAM values.
  • Daily advisory meetings and community gatherings.
  • Structured planning time for teachers to develop the highest quality lessons.
  • Highly structured, disciplined and supportive learning environment, with mandatory uniforms.
  • Close collaboration with parents and families.

Achievement Prep will hire and offer a competitive salary and benefits package to middle school Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies founding teachers for the 2008-2009 school year who:
